Dimitri tried his best to stop his panting, though it was becoming harder for every tug.
The guard had long since stopped pacing the hall, and was most likely sitting down somewhere, tired. Megara had slept for a couple of hours, so he was now confident she was sleeping soundly. Dimitri leaned his back against the wall and slid down it, still not looking in her direction. He didn't know what to say, didn't know if anything would help. But he took that thought back as soon as he realized the cons of leaving her far outweighed the pros.

She glanced at him every now and then, scanning his face for any sign of regret or disgust. After a few moments, she decided to speak up. "I'm sorry...you didnt want my help and I did it anyway..." She finished cleaning the suit but didn't put it back on, just stared down at her hands.

He sighed and put a hand to his face. "Do you know how long we've been roomed?" he asked. He had an idea, but he couldn't know if he'd counted the days right. He hoped he hadn't. She sat staring at the ground for a few moments, her eyes glazed over to hide any sign of emotion. Her mind was brought back to reality and she shook her head slightly, pushing away everything that was in her mind. Pulling the jumpsuit back on, she didn't look at him. He wouldn't look at her, so maybe she should do the same.

He wanted to bang his head against the wall, but knew very well that it would cause Megara to look over at him again, and right now he appreciated the silence and distance between them. A part of him wanted nothing more than to cling to her and never let go, and hope that his clutch was so tight Korso wouldn't be able to force them apart even when sleeping...
... but he knew that was crazy. And it would only make the desperation grow, leading to the separation being all the more painful. He had been so happy just a couple of days past, thinking that it didn't matter because at least he was happy then and there. At least he'd gotten this experience. But now when the move was so dangerously close he regretted ever thinking that. Never loving would be better. If he never knew what he missed, he couldn't miss it.
